Position Title:

Customer On-Site Vehicle Simulation Application Engineer

Position Summary:

Stackpole Engineering Services, Inc. is a provider of comprehensive engineering solutions for OEM Manufactures and Professional Race teams. Originally founded as a tire testing, modeling and analysis services company, our team of industry leading professionals have decisively grown our corporate repertoire to include expert services in all areas related to vehicle systems modeling and analysis. Our customers include firms within the OEM automotive, heavy duty military and off road, professional motorsports, and Tier 2 and 3 markets. We are currently seeking highly motivated engineers with experience in Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Development to join our team.


Successful candidates should have a background or strong interest and willingness to learn in the area of vehicle dynamics and tire/vehicle system modeling. Experience and/or a strong interest in oval track racing are preferred for an ideal candidate. Volunteer work or internships with local or regional touring short track teams would be preferred. This position requires a tenacious attention to detail, flexible work schedule and strong technical communication skills. Candidates will be working with race teams on a weekly basis supporting and assisting with vehicle dynamic simulation support, developing setups, and strategies for the weekly operation of teams competing within the premier auto racing series in North America.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

            Interact daily with customers to support and develop the existing suite of vehicle dynamics simulation tools and software.

            Work with the existing SES Application Engineers and corresponding race team simulations groups to support the weekly demands of the race teams.

            Work closely with the SES development team to validate, enhance, and develop the current suite of simulation tools used by the race teams on a weekly basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

            BSME or MS in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with specialization in dynamic systems engineering related topics.

            Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member.

            Strong basic computer skills.

            Excellent written communication skills. Must have the ability to write concise technical reports that are easily understood by a diversely educated audience.

            MATLAB/VB Macro/Python programming experience would be a plus for development of analytical tools.

            Solid understanding in the practical application of statistics, dynamics, and dynamic systems.

            General desire for advancement and curiosity to expand the knowledge base of the organization.

            Systematic problem-solving skills.

            Ability to quickly identify, process variables, and establish viable solutions to broad scope projects.
