(North Canton, Ohio) - January 28th, 2025 - Stackpole Engineering Services, a full-service provider of tire testing, modeling, and simulation engineering solutions, is celebrating twenty-five years in business.

Stackpole Engineering Services (SES) was founded on December 6, 1999, by Michael Stackpole, who started the company in a home office while working in research and development for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. In its early days, SES was primarily focused on providing simulation and tire modeling support to Goodyear’s racing programs. Stackpole saw tremendous potential for the advanced technology he was developing, and after four years of managing SES on nights and weekends, he left Goodyear in 2003 to run the company full time.

“We are witnessing a continuous shift in the tire and vehicle development process toward the virtual world,” said Stackpole, president of SES. “We are proud to provide peerless virtual tools and expert services our customers require, ensuring their success in their respective markets, whether that’s on the road or at the racetrack.”

Since its founding, SES has significantly expanded its service offerings to include engineering software development and custom vehicle simulation, complementing its tire modeling and motorsports engineering capabilities. The company has 15 employees, including several other members of the Stackpole family.

“SES is proud to be a family-run, family-owned business,” said Stackpole. “Even the name of the company is a nod to family: My father, Robert Stackpole, Sr., ran his own business, Stackpole Electrical Services, for almost 30 years, and we’re proud to honor his entrepreneurial legacy through Stackpole Engineering Services.”

SES has significantly expanded its tire modeling and engineering service offerings and celebrated several major accomplishments in recent years:

  • The launch of Agile Tire® 2.0. Agile Tire, a world-class tire data and modeling software with robust engineering analysis capabilities and virtually endless customization options.
  • The launch of Virtual Tire Lab, a subscription-based library of first-pass tire models designed to support early stages of virtual vehicle development. Virtual Tire Lab is a collaboration with Smithers, a long-time partner of SES
  • The development of simulation software tools and physics for professional race teams, empowering 10 series championships between 2020 and 2024.
  • A partnership with VI-grade that expanded SES’ virtual engineering development offerings.

The company has ambitious plans for the next 25 years.

“We are expanding our custom simulation development services to include new professional racing customers, expanding our engineering software offerings, and expanding our technical partnerships with industry-leading simulation and tire modeling companies” said Stackpole. “We’re also focused on developing advanced machine learning and AI capabilities to support our customers’ virtual tire and vehicle modeling needs”.
